Lecture Series: What is Belly Dance?

For the first installment of the "More Than Just Moves" Lecture Series, we will start by figuring out what belly dance actually is. For so many of us, we start belly dance classes with preconceived notions (or no idea at all) about what belly dance is, where it comes from, and how it is defined. When in class, we are often so focused on the movements and physically dancing, that we don't spend as much time on dance "philosophy". This is an opportunity to get some of that info without sacrificing class time!

While this lecture/discussion/question-and-answer session is primarily geared to those who are newer to belly dance, this could be a useful discussion for dancers at all levels who are looking for some perspective or to revisit their own definition of belly dance. This 20 to 30 minute Zoom meeting will be fairly open forum for anyone with questions or discussion points within the framework of this topic.

The zoom link will be provided for free to all participants in July sessions (check your session "orientation" email) and will be recorded. The recording as available upon request. Anyone not participating in July sessions can register for the meeting or recording on the website.
